This project is based around one thing...

Users tend to favor better designed products and consider good design to be more usable.
In other words, Good Visuals = Good UX.

I believe that gamification allows for better UX and CX, because it drives engagement, and helps distinguish a product or service in these times of increasingly similar design solutions.

Inspired by the way Domino’s shows you progress on your order, I wanted to design a more visually appealing user experience.

Here's the finished concept
The web app is focused around using 3D visualizations of the donuts offered by the store to reel in the customer, with bouncy and flowing animations, and a fun pastel palette. The design of the site is a mix between modern and a softer version of neuebrutalism.
I modeled and animated the donuts in Blender, turned them into gifs with Photoshop to create faux video files, and built a prototype in Figma.
I had to work with a lot of slight variations to everything, so I used auto-layout components within components, which was a bit overwhelming sometimes.
Some things did go wrong though...
The big challenge was updating components that had multiple other components inside of them.
Another issue was the fact that for some reason Figma would mess up the prototype flow. I tested a lot of ways to see if the issue could be fixed, and at the end managed to find a way to mitigate it.
In Conclusion

Far too many times businesses focus on a utilitarian shopping experience, and negate the graphics. While it is true, that the goal of a business is to make money, good visuals are a driving factor in optimizing sales, user retention and brand recognition in a market that continuously grows.

Businesses need a way to distinguish themselves from the ever so fierce competition out there, if they’re to survive. 20 years ago in Bulgaria, there weren’t many places to get burgers - nowadays, a new burger joint pops up every other week, and the competition is fierce.

3D is here to stay, and with great computational power, comes greater visuals, which makes me very excited for the future of digital design...
